All mediators within Southern Mediation Services have current accreditation and are qualified to deal with a wide range of dispute resolutions.
Accreditation is held through an approved dispute resolution organisation – Arbitrators and Mediators Institute of New Zealand (AMINZ), Resolutions Institute or the Law Society.
All our mediators are contracted to deliver the Ministry of Justice Family Disputes Resolution Service (FDR). The FDR service was created in response to the Family Justice Reforms, underpinned by the Family Dispute Resolutions Act, 2013 and the Care of Children Act, 2004. This occurred when the Ministry of Justice, as part of their 2014 Family Justice reform established a Family Dispute Resolution Service.
Southern Mediation Service mediators have the professional skills, knowledge and ability to mediate through dispute resolution and the Family Dispute Resolution process to facilitate any issues which may be adversely affecting you or your family. Our mediators utilise a wide range of knowledge and expertise. Their combined background covers; health, mental health, alcohol and other drug, statutory child protection, counselling, employment, family law and restorative justice. Further detail is provided in the individual profiles of each practitioner.
Our business is as diverse as our people and who we work with. We have come from a variety of backgrounds, and travelled all sorts of places.
